Zinc Installation

What are zincs? Zincs are sacrificial anodes that are placed on various underwater locations of your vessel to prevent electrical current that causes electrolysis.

Any time you have two different metals that are physically or electrically connected and immersed in seawater, they become a battery.  The electrons that make up that current are supplied by one of the metals giving up bits of itself in the form of metal ions to the seawater.  This is called galvanic corrosion and, left unchecked, it quickly destroys underwater metals used for Props, Rudders, Struts, Shafts, Trim Tabs, Outdrives and Through Hulls.

Scuba Scrubbers will inspect your zincs and replace them when necessary, preventing costly damage.  Our trucks are fully stock with genuine CAMP high quality zincs.  Special order zincs are promptly available.  In addition, our staff also installs Captain or owner supplied zincs if requested.
